Crews Demolish Vacant Port Jervis Home

PORT JERVIS, N.Y. – Crews knocked down a decaying house in The Acre section of Port Jervis on Friday after it was deemed unsafe, according to the Times Herald-Record. 

The vacant house at 15 Second St. was demolished.

Mayor Kelly Decker called an emergency meeting of the Common Council, who agreed to knock the structure down. Building official David Rivera said the house was collapsing and infested with bugs, the Record reported. 

The city hopes to sell the land, the Record said.
